WOOD & Company Named a Leader in Sustainable Investment Banking in the Region

WOOD & Company has received the Leader in Sustainable Investment Banking Emerging Europe 2026 award from the international publication Capital Finance International. The judging panel highlighted the company’s ability to connect sustainability with tangible investment activity, responsible management and commercially viable business models.

Investments in renewable energy and energy infrastructure play an important role in this approach. The WOOD & Company Renewables Sub-Fund includes, among other assets, a 42 MWp solar power plant in Romania and a 70 MW / 160 MWh battery storage system in Sweden. Additional battery projects are currently under construction in Finland. These investments demonstrate that the energy transition is viewed not only through the lens of positive impact, but also as an investment opportunity that must meet clear economic and return objectives.

WOOD & Company’s regional reach is another key strength. The firm manages €5.8 billion in assets, provides research coverage on more than 150 publicly traded companies and operates across 22 capital markets. This enables it to combine investment banking, asset management and advisory expertise across Central and Eastern Europe.

Sustainability is not limited to a single area of the business. It is reflected in M&A advisory, infrastructure mandates, real estate funds and investor education. Clients are also encouraged to assess what proportion of their portfolios consists of green or ESG-certified assets.

This practical approach is also evident across the company’s real estate portfolio. WOOD & Company monitors the energy performance of its buildings, expands the use of photovoltaic systems, tracks waste separation and applies CREM modelling to evaluate both individual properties and entire portfolios.

The company’s ESG activities also extend beyond its own investment products. WOOD & Company supported the establishment of Esgrovia, a business focused on ESG and energy certification services in the Czech and Slovak markets. It has also prepared a green bond framework in a region where green bond issuance remains relatively limited.

Responsible business practices are reflected within the company as well. WOOD & Company employs more than 500 people representing 13 nationalities and offers part-time opportunities to women returning from maternity leave.

The award confirms that WOOD & Company does not treat sustainability as a standalone investment theme, but as a principle embedded in its projects, management practices and day-to-day operations.
